There's a creature living in my belly button

Ok...I am officially frustrated. Here's my life story for the past ten some odd years: I enter a store (lately my favorite being Forever 21) and buy a shirt for a rather insignificant amount of money (I mention that because that's NOT the reason why I am frustrated...it's not the money). I fall in love...I feel great in the shirt, it hides my "areas", I feel sheek and cool and it looks great with my shoes and jeans. Oh, and another plus that has been added to my criteria in shirt-buying...I can nurse with it. Anyway....I wear it once with all the pride a shirt can give (which i s a lot lately...I love expressing myself with shirts). I wash it after the one time use and put it on the second time to wear it. I am out and about, feeling cool when all the sudden I realize there are several tiny holes in my shirt around the belly button area. I am deflated. WHAT THE...???? I don't get it. I washed it ONE TIME. So I am have come to the conclusion that a microscopic creature lives in my belly button and feasts on my awesome shirts on a daily basis. I am going to start spraying my belly button with Raid. I am annoyed.

I know what you mean. It comes from stuffing too many shirts in the wash at once. I've noticed all the clothes I got at Christmas didnt' wash well either. I guess it has something to do with buying them at cheap stores. Who knows!!! I think they should come with a disposal tag if you have to trash them after 1 use!!!

sometimes if the front of your shirt goes over your button of your pants, it will wear thin there. I've noticed that on a couple of my shirts. the solution? dont know.

now that was funny!

ditto to Rebecca's comment. I guess that's what happens when we buy cheap clothes! But, do more expensive ones NOT do this?

That happened to me once, and I took it back to the store and told them it had holes in it after the first wash...they took it back :)

ha ha ha! You are HILARIOUS!
I can honestly say that I have never had this happen to me. You guys are all freaks! :) Okay, you know I don't really mean that. I think it's b/c I wear an undershirt everyday, (y'know, like a downeast or shade or something.) Maybe it keeps shirts from rubbing up against my jeans. COuld it be your solution? maybe not in summer. Heaven knows you do not need another layer, (when you've already got 2) in the Georgia heat fo sho! Good luck with the Raid though...

You should take the shirt back! After one wash and there are already holes...I would for sure take it back.
My only other idea is...buy more expensive shirts.

for real... almost ALL of my shirts have holes in them. Maybe my muffin top is too big...time to lose weight!!! :) I really do not thin kit's b/c of the button...it's above that. And I have tried stuffing less clothes into the washer. I feel like I have tried everything. It probably is the cheap factor.

I have the same problem! Hillary suggested to me awhile ago that it may be the cleaners that I clean with...just a thought.

K- I've dealt with this ALOT- you wouldn't believe how many of my shirts have holes- nice or not. I once had a BCBG shirt that I wore ONE time (not even washed) and it did this so I returned it and they took it back. I definitely think its the button thing...and the reason its higher than your button is b/c you put it on after you wash it and its shrunk. The button wears down the shirt when you rub it against a hard (ie granite) counter during food prep etc. I would swear by that b/c its happened to many shirts of mine that haven't been washed. Otherwise, how do you explain that it hasn't happened until you were a busy mom and therefore constantly doing stuff at the kitchen counter??

same thing happens to me, but it seems like it's on the cheap thin shirts. Take it back. I think Rachel's right.

I have shirts that have done the same thing. It's annoying for sure. I agree with Rachel though. Otherwise, why wouldn't you get holes in other places in your shirt and only around the belly button area?

This is the exact reason that Forever 21 has a no return policy. They KNOW how cheap their clothes are. It's definitley the button thing. It's happened to every cheap shirt I have- Old Navy especially. And NO! It DOESN'T happen to more expensive shirts. I know this cause I had one once.

oh my gosh! sadie and I are on an eternal quest to figure out what causes this. All my shirts have these holes and i dont think its the wash, because the holes are always right at the belly button. so here are my theories.
1. cleaners we use to wipe our counters, have u ever noticed that when you wipe your counter after spraying it with cleaner, that that exact spot rubs up against the counter?
2. rubbing button, perhaps because we wear our shirts untucked and fitted they rub on the button area of our pants.
But i really dont see how that could wear a hole that quick, right?
I just don't know and if anyone can figure it out let me know.

My shade shirts are the Worst!!! anywho so you are not the only one with a creature in your belly button ;)
