Spain- Volume 2

We spent the next part of our trip making our way slowly from Madrid to Malaga where our Marriott timeshare was. We stopped at this ancient castle "Castilla de los Condes de Orgaz" in the city of Orgaz. At least that's what the sign said. Too bad we didn't undersrtand a lick of Spanish....I have no idea what this castle was used for etc. Wikipedia just told me it was built in Medieval times. Thank you wikipedia.

Finally we ended up at our destination- the city of Cordoba. As we were reading our handy dandy travel guide the book said, "do not travel to this city during the festival in May". Hmmm...too late for that. It also mentioned that driving a car in this city is a mistake. OOPS! Right off the bat we are offending cordobans right and left. Sure enough the city was CRAZY with young people who traveled from all over to go the biggest festival/carnival I have ever seen. Its there for ten days. It started at midnight according to the front desk helper at our next hostal which again, took hours to find. After hours and thousands of dollars later we found one of the nicest hostals we stayed at Hostal Los Fuentes. We had four single beds in a room and our own bathroom! Nice.

So, what did we do while we in Cordoba? Well, attended the festival of course. Everyone (adults included) were dressed up in their flamenco get-up. These kids were DARLING. I begged for a pic. Look at the little boy on the right...his hat could not be any cuter. That cute little conquistador (as Billy called all Spaniards) girl could have provided heat for the entire country of Russia with the amount of hair she had all.over.her.body. Cute little thing.

The boys especially enjoyed the festival. They even indulged in some serioulsy overpriced rides.

The next morning...all bright -yed and bushytailed. Again, notice the doors that open up to a balcony and the sounds of drunken college students til the wee hours of 4am. Cozy.

The front of the hostal.

This was the outdoor courtyard in the middle of the building. You can't tell its open to the elements of the earth in this pic, but it was. Gorgeous. The tile work and furniture in the courtyard was beautiful. Moving on...... Look for volume three! :)

I will admit that blogger is annoying. So, I do it the same way every time. Pictures are always centered and large, then I just load the pictures at the top, then copy and paste the codes to where they need to go (either below or above the picture I want to describe). Anyway, it's a pain because blogger always uploads the pictures in reverse order (why can't they fix this), but I've learned to upload them on my end in the opposite order that they appear in. That's probably why I don't blog as much anymore because there are rarely days where I have the patience for it. It is time consuming and annoying!!!
But, that little girl's dress is so cute. I'm sure Ella is jealous of that one! :)
